Works with Getty Images, iStock, Adobe Stock and Shutterstock
Each agency has its own rules for titles, keywords, and CSV files. Choose where you’re submitting before you generate, and Metadata Sherpa writes and exports for that agency. You review and edit everything before you export.
Getty Images and iStock
Metadata written for Getty Images ESP, with the video details contributors set by hand.
- A title, a description, and keywords written in Getty Images’ own term forms (for example “Smart Phone” and “Casual Clothing”), with no guessed age, gender, or ethnicity.
- Shot framing detected from the footage (Wide Shot, Medium Shot, Close-Up and more) and used to lead the title.
- For video, a filmstrip of candidate frames so you choose the poster frame, with its timecode written into the CSV.
- Date, location, license model, and shot speed fields in Getty Images’ ESP templates, with one CSV for video and one for photos.
- Keywords are not checked live against Getty Images’ systems, so ESP may show some in red. Getty Images keeps unrecognized keywords as candidate terms.
Adobe Stock
A short title and a keyword list in the format the Contributor Portal’s Upload CSV expects.
- A plain title (up to 200 characters, with no commas or punctuation) and up to 49 keywords, most important first.
- One of Adobe Stock’s 21 categories picked for each file, which you can change before exporting.
- One CSV for photos and video together, uploaded with “Upload CSV” after your files.
- The CSV can’t set everything. Mark identifiable people or property, attach releases, and tick the generative-AI box in the portal when it applies.
Shutterstock
A single descriptive sentence and keywords, exported as separate photo and video files.
- One factual description, which is Shutterstock’s only title (at least 5 words, up to 2,048 characters), and 7 to 50 keywords with repeated terms trimmed.
- One category picked for each file from Shutterstock’s photo or video list, which you can change before exporting.
- A photo CSV and a video CSV, uploaded with “Upload CSV” on the portal’s Images and Videos tabs after your files.
- The export doesn’t set editorial use, releases, or mature content, so set those in the portal.
Good to know
- Photos and video both work, and you can mix them in one batch. Your files are processed in your browser, and only a few extracted frames are sent for analysis.
- Generated keywords are suggestions. How many an agency accepts without edits depends on your subject, so review them before you submit.
- Metadata Sherpa is an independent tool and isn’t affiliated with, reviewed, or endorsed by any of these agencies.
